For the whole family

3-day Itineraries

Friday:

  • Squeeze into a booth at That Place on Main Street - they'll make anything the kids want.
  • Head down to the park under the Wind Bridge for a morning of fishing below Lock 17. Check out the restored lock from the original Erie Canal.
  • Take a walk along the bike path and then head over to Ole Sal's for home-made soup and a sandwich, followed by an ice cream cone.
  • Head down to Canal Place. Formerly the industrial heart of the city, it now features shops, restaurants, arts organizations, and more.
  • While Dad and Junior go hiking at Moss Island, Mom and Sis enjoy some shopping at the Shops at 25 West.
  • Enjoy a Friday Night Fish Fry at the Elks Lodge.
  • Head over to Valley View Cinema for a first run movie and popcorn.

Saturday:

  • Pig out at Ann Street Deli - there's something for everyone.
  • Head up to the YMCA where the kids can play in the game room while Mom and Dad takes a class or work out.
  • Grab some fresh produce at the farmer's' market and some cold cuts or a steak at Kelly's meat market. Head up to Moreland Park for a picnic, but stop first at the Overlook for a stunning view of the Valley. Be sure to check out the stone wall as you drive up the hill - it was built by the WPA during FDR's administration. Once in the park you can walk the trails and admire the stone cook house.
  • Go over to Veteran's Park and watch a baseball game.
  • Enjoy old-fashioned hot dogs and burgers at Kenicke's.
  • Have fun with an evening of bowling at George View Lanes.

Sunday:

  • Brunch at Casey's at the Travelodge.
  • The family can go play 9 holes at the Little Falls Municipal golf course.
  • Everyone convenes for lunch at the Ann Street Deli.
  • Afternoon take a tour of the Canal or rent kayaks and canoes at Rotary Park and paddle on your own, followed by a visit to Herkimer Home for the historic reenactments.
  • Dinner is at the Italian Feast on Main Street.
