Drop in your kayak, or rent a kayak or canoe at Rotary Park and paddle east, past the City to Lock 17. Explore Goat Island and then paddle up to Moss Island and watch the rock climbers. Or paddle west, where there is less development and more nature. Once you get in view of Lock 18, veer to the right and paddle up the river. Just to the left you will see a grassy area. Get out here to stretch your legs and then walk up the lawn to the lock. If you are lucky you will get to see boats "lock through".
Dinner at Piccolo where your plate will be overloaded whether you order a chimichanga, meatloaf, or the local dish, "riggies".
Get to the Black Box theater by 8:00 and enjoy a favorite or classic movie it's BYOB and donations accepted.
Grab an after movie drink and play darts at Renaissance, or if you prefer pool, stop by the Happen Inn.
Load up on pancakes and coffee at the Ann St. Deli. Have them make you a sandwich to go.
Get your permit from the fire station at City Hall and challenge your rock climbing skills at Moss Island.
Take a break and wander amongst the potholes, mosses, and trees up top.
Find a spot to picnic and enjoy the views of the river below.
Grab your bike and loosen up your legs with an easy, flat ride east and enjoy the scenery at the Herkimer Home.
Head over to Beardslee Castle where you'll get ghost sightings along with your meal. Upstairs is fine dining or head down into the Dungeon for interesting twists on traditional pub food. The salmon BLT is amazing.
Head up to Crazy Otto's Diner where you'll get plenty of atmosphere along with the huge servings.
Drive over route 167. About 1.5 miles from the bridge, look for a pull-off to your right. Hop on your mountain bike and explore the single track that runs along the river west to Lock 18.
Unwind with a leisurely walk along the bike path, making a loop that takes you over Lock 17, back to Canal Place.
Grab an big bowl of homemade soup and a sandwich at Ole Sal's.
Wander amongst the antiques and try to find some vintage gear.
